Concerned Citizens and Immigration Reformers,

The Obama administration has pressed the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to hire an advocate for illegal immigrants. Believe it or not! This new advocate, Andrew Lorenzen-Strait, is to serve as a point of contact for aliens in deportation proceedings and is to assist individuals [aka illegals] in resolving concerns and complaints with agency policies and operations. Not to mention our government often provides attorneys at no charge for illegals as they fight deportation through court actions.

Where is the advocate for unemployed Americans who have lost jobs to illegal immigrants? Or an advocate for American workers who have seen their wages reduced due to mass immigration and illegal immigration?

Remember, the USA is still allowing nearly 900,000 legal immigrants into the USA each year even though we have over 13 million citizens out of work (doesn’t count those working part-time but want and cannot find a full-time job). Is this the real change America wants? Does this make any sense at all? ………..stuck in stupid comes to mind.

Regards,

Concerned Citizens and Immigration Reformers,

H.R. 2164, a bill by Congressman Lamar Smith who has fought for immigration enforcement for years, would require all businesses nationwide to use E-Verify and it has some great enforcement features, HOWEVER there are two clauses that MUST be amended if we are to continue to support this legislation.

The bill will be considered by the U.S. House Judiciary Committee and we need to press them to adopt these two amendments to H.R. 2164, the Legal Workforce Act, authored by Congressman Smith.

We must contact all Republican Members of the House Judiciary Committee, (list below) and ask that they support these two amendments in committee that do the following to H.R. 2164:

1. Amend the preemption language so that the bill maintains the states’ authority to revoke business licenses as a penalty for both hiring illegal workers and not using E-Verify (Section 6). Otherwise, state laws upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court, like those Arizona, Alabama, North Carolina, etc. may be wiped off the books and Americans will be left to rely only on the federal government to enforce our immigration workplace laws. There is absolutely NO reason to prevent States from assisting the federal government with workplace enforcement.

2. Eliminate the paragraph of the so-called Good Faith Defense that actually makes it harder for prosecutors to successfully bring cases against employers who knowingly violate the law. (Section 5)

The bill has good things in it already, but if we can get these two amendments, it would be a great bill. We would have mandatory E-Verify in all states, states with existing immigration laws could continue to enforce those laws, and businesses would be required to take steps to ensure their workers are legal or face prosecution.

We will need everyone working together to get these two amendments added. Please contact everyone you know and ask them to assist with making these calls.

Concerned Citizens and Immigration Reformers,

This is a bit late in mentioning, but Reedy Creek Diner at 5424 North NC Highway 150 in Lexington, NC 27295 came under some attacks earlier for their English only policy. They serve anyone and do their best to help, but do not wish to provide translation services or special waitresses for those who cannot speak English. The Latino community created a bit of a stir over this because of an English only sign in the restaurant’s window.

When I was visiting Italy and Spain a couple of years ago I did not expect any special treatment even though I do not speak Spanish or Italian. When I visited restaurants I was served and I was polite, and they assisted me as best they could and I appreciated their help. I did not complain about the menu not being in English, and I did not expect a translator to be present. As a side note I did study Latin for five semesters, but I arrived a little late in Europe for that to have any relevance.

I encourage all of you to visit this restaurant in Lexington when you are in the area. And to our associates in the Lexington area, I expect you are already supporting them per the previous media attention.

Thanks and send this email to your friends and associates.

Regards,

Ron Woodard
