With the state budget nearing real completion, it is time to press for passage of NC Senate Bill S.1258 which would keep illegal immigrants from enrolling in our state Community Colleges.  The NC Community College Board [most are political appointees, ten of whom by the Governor] late last year gave approval for illegal immigrants to attend our state Community Colleges.

With over 10% unemployment in North Carolina (if not for temporary US Census Bureau workers and other government workers being hired last month, the unemployment rate in North Carolina would have actually increased by 3,200) our state should be focusing on putting citizens back to work, NOT training illegal immigrants for jobs.

We CAN stop this nutty policy to allow illegal immigrants access to our NC Community Colleges, but it will now take state legislation due to the vote of the NC Community College Board.

WE NEED YOU TO CALL THE FOLLOWING LEGISLATORS IN THE NC GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO TAKE ACTION ON NC SENATE BILL S.1258, BUT FIRST IT MUST BE ALLOWED TO COME UP FOR A VOTE IN THE EDUCATION COMMITTEE.

Recently, the NC College Board decided to allow illegal aliens to enroll in North Carolina Community Colleges. Only a few months of internal procedures remain before this rule goes into effect.

Our state unemployment rate is over 10%. Why should the State of North Carolina be assisting illegal aliens to become better educated in order to steal jobs which belong to unemployed citizens?

According to the N.C. Employment Security Commission our state has had to borrow nearly $2 billion [yes, billion] dollars this year from the federal government to pay unemployment benefits, because the state unemployment insurance trust fund is in the red.  They estimate our state may need to borrow another $2 billion through the course of 2010.

NC LISTEN is asking that the citizens of North Carolina sign a petition asking the North Carolina General Assembly to pass legislation to prevent illegal aliens from enrolling in our North Carolina Community Colleges and the University of North Carolina System.

Concerned Citizens and Immigration Reformers,

IT’S NOT OVER.   WE can still stop illegals from attending our North Carolina Community Colleges.  There are a few steps yet for the NC Community College Board to take before it is “official”.    We have a plan to stop the Board in their tracks.

IF YOU HAVE NOT AS YET EMAILED THE NC COMMUNITY BOARD, PLEASE DO SO BEFORE DECEMBER 15th.

As you have heard, the North Carolina Community College Board has announced they intend to allow illegal aliens to attend our state Community Colleges.   Our state just recently announced there are 20,000 more citizens who now want to attend our state Community Colleges [58 campuses across the state] than there is space, due to the economy and high unemployment.

Our state unemployment rate is nearly 11% and state-supported Community Colleges are in place to better educate and train citizens so they can get jobs, but instead the NC Community College Board wants to help educate illegal immigrants for jobs??

HOW TO TAKE ACTION TO STOP THIS.

I mentioned above there are a few steps to take, leading up to procedures requiring the NC General Assembly being required to vote for this ruling, if we take action.   So step 1 is to have “official” emails [i.e. emails sent by citizens during the official comment period between now and Dec 15th] sent to the President of the NC Community College Board.

Written objections shall be addressed to President, NC Community College System Office, 5001 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699.

TALKING POINTS to use to send to the NC Community College Board:

• With 11% unemployment shouldn’t our North Carolina Community College System focus our limited state resources on training/educating unemployed citizens for jobs?  If we allow illegal immigrants to attend state Community Colleges at any of the over 50 campuses across NC, won’t we be helping illegal immigrants take jobs that should be reserved for only legal residents?
• Also when one is illegally in our Country and graduating as a high school student [now an adult] he/she can return to their native Country to go to college or trade school.  And it is against federal law to aid and abet an illegal immigrant.  If our NC Community Colleges [knowingly] allow illegal alien immigrants in America to attend state-supported Community College, isn’t  this providing aid to an illegal immigrant?
• Lastly, it is a violation of federal law to hire someone illegally present in America.  Hence what good does it do to educate an illegal alien adult in America, if no company in America can legally hire them?
• I am against allowing illegal immigrants to attend our NC Community Colleges and insist you REQUIRE all state Community College campuses to use the federal S.A.V.E. [Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements] System to make sure all applicants are legally present in the USA.

IT WILL BE AN OUTRAGE IF WE STAND BY AND LET ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS ATTEND OUR STATE-SUPPORTED COMMUNITY COLLEGES AND THEN TAKE JOBS THAT SHOULD GO TO CITIZENS, especially with such high citizen unemployment.  Our fellow citizens are hurting, so please be a patriot and help.
