The Obama administration is taking legal action against Arizona to prevent their state Senate bill 1070 from becoming law, while continuing to ignore “sanctuary” cities in America who thwart federal immigration laws and openly announce they will refuse to enforce or obey them. I suppose it is selective enforcement of the law based on politics.

Arizona is only trying to protect its citizens and partner with the federal government to solve a serious problem.

Immigration and controlling our borders are federal duties listed in our Constitution. No one has to make it up. Arizona, however, is only mirroring federal law without attempting to deport anyone [deportation must be done by the Feds]. Congress passed immigration laws in 1996 which give states certain rights and the ability to help enforce immigration laws. A large majority of American citizens support Arizona in its efforts. Federal cases in the recent past have ruled that states have the right to enforce immigration laws.

With high unemployment one would think it would be important to make sure only legal residents can acquire jobs. There are over seven million illegal immigrants working in American, and less than 12% of them are involved in agricultural related jobs. The state of North Carolina has borrowed over $2.4 billion from the federal government since the end of 2008 to pay unemployment insurance claims. I guess cheap illegal immigrant labor isn’t so cheap after all.

What could be more important than protecting citizens and making sure they have access to jobs in the USA? Apparently politics and pandering for votes are more important!

With the state budget nearing real completion, it is time to press for passage of NC Senate Bill S.1258 which would keep illegal immigrants from enrolling in our state Community Colleges. The NC Community College Board [most are political appointees, ten of whom by the Governor] late last year gave approval for illegal immigrants to attend our state Community Colleges.

With over 10% unemployment in North Carolina (if not for temporary US Census Bureau workers and other government workers being hired last month, the unemployment rate in North Carolina would have actually increased by 3,200) our state should be focusing on putting citizens back to work, NOT training illegal immigrants for jobs.

We CAN stop this nutty policy to allow illegal immigrants access to our NC Community Colleges, but it will now take state legislation due to the vote of the NC Community College Board.

WE NEED YOU TO CALL THE FOLLOWING LEGISLATORS IN THE NC GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO TAKE ACTION ON NC SENATE BILL S.1258, BUT FIRST IT MUST BE ALLOWED TO COME UP FOR A VOTE IN THE EDUCATION COMMITTEE.

TAKE ACTION NOW !

CALL THESE KEY STATE LEGISLATORS IN RALEIGH AND TELL THEM NC SENATE BILL 1258 TO KEEP ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS OUT OF OUR STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGES NEEDS TO BE ALLOWED TO COME UP FOR A VOTE IN THE EDUCATION COMMITTEE:

Co-Chairman Senator Tony Foriest 919-301-1446

Co-Chairman Senator Richard Stevens 919-733-5653

Primary Sponsor of S.1258, Senator John Snow 919-733-5875

Senate Majority Leader and member of the Education Committee Martin Nesbitt 919-715-3001

Powerful member of the Senate and on the Education Committee David Hoyle 919-733-5734

WE will need a lot of phone calls to get this done. WE need your help. Pass this message to all of your friends and associates.

If we don’t take action, the illegals and their handlers win! IF WE TAKE ACTION, THEN WE WIN ! I KNOW I CAN COUNT ON YOU.

Recently, the NC College Board decided to allow illegal aliens to enroll in North Carolina Community Colleges. Only a few months of internal procedures remain before this rule goes into effect.

Our state unemployment rate is over 10%. Why should the State of North Carolina be assisting illegal aliens to become better educated in order to steal jobs which belong to unemployed citizens?

According to the N.C. Employment Security Commission our state has had to borrow nearly $2 billion [yes, billion] dollars this year from the federal government to pay unemployment benefits, because the state unemployment insurance trust fund is in the red. They estimate our state may need to borrow another $2 billion through the course of 2010.

NC LISTEN is asking that the citizens of North Carolina sign a petition asking the North Carolina General Assembly to pass legislation to prevent illegal aliens from enrolling in our North Carolina Community Colleges and the University of North Carolina System.

The NC Civitas Institute in Raleigh began an on-line contest to determine which piece of legislation introduced in the NC General Assembly this past session was the WORST BILL. Thirty-two “bad bills” were selected for consideration in a NCAA-type March Madness competition and citizens cast over 10,000 votes during a period of eight weeks. State Senate bill S.848 which was introduced [but did not pass] would have allowed, by statute, illegal immigrants to enroll in our North Carolina Community College System and our (sixteen) University of North Carolina campuses. North Carolina citizens voted S.848 as the WORST LEGISLATION to be introduced in the NC General Assembly.

What of course did happen is the NC Community College Board decided recently to allow illegal immigrants to enroll in our NC Community College System [all 58 campuses]. NC LISTEN is working to deny this atrocity, which could go into affect by mid-2010. More to follow on this effort. Wonder how the above contest for worst bill must make the NC Community College Board feel, given their actions? I would suggest it should make them feel like a bunch of idiots, which they are in my opinion. In the middle of one of the worst recessions in American history, our NC Community College Board decides to help illegal immigrants enroll in college when our state unemployment rate is 11% and citizens need help with retraining and education to be better able to acquire a job.
